Membership
The International Beef Cattle Registry offers membership to individuals, partnerships/syndicates, corporations, and youth under 21 years of age in North America (United States and Canada) who are actively involved in breeding, owning, handling beef cattle, semen or embryos.
Types of Memberships
1. General Membership
- Eligibility: Open to individuals 21 years or older, as well as farms, ranches, partnerships, syndicates, and corporations.
- Dues: Assessed annually at a rate set by the International Beef Cattle Registry. Fees are listed on the membership form and Fee Schedule - Order Form.
- Privileges: Includes voting rights on matters where membership input is sought. Each General Membership is granted one vote.
2. Associate Breeder Membership
- Eligibility: Designed for individuals whose religious beliefs prevent them from joining as a General Member.
- Privileges: Associate Breeders can register and transfer cattle at member rates but do not have voting rights.
3. Junior Membership
- Eligibility: Open to individuals under 21 years of age. Membership expires on the member's 21st birthday, but they may complete the membership year as a Junior Member
- Dues: Assessed annually at a fee set by the Registry, as detailed on the membership form and Fee Schedule - Order Form.
- Privileges: Junior Members can register and transfer cattle at member rates but do not have voting rights.
4. Junior Lifetime Membership
- Eligibility: Available to individuals under 21 years of age as a lifetime membership. Membership expires on the member's 21st birthday.
- Dues: A one-time fee set by the Registry, detailed on the membership form and Fee Schedule - Order Form.
- Privileges: Junior Lifetime Members can register and transfer cattle at member rates but do not have voting rights.
5. Junior Lifetime Membership to Regular Lifetime Membership
- Eligibility: Upon turning 21, a Junior Lifetime Member may upgrade to a Regular Lifetime Membership by paying the difference between their Junior Lifetime Membership fee and the Regular Lifetime Membership fee.
- (Example: If a Junior Lifetime Membership costs $100 and a Regular Lifetime Membership costs $250, the member would pay $150 to upgrade.)
- Dues: A one-time fee set by the Registry, detailed on the membership form and Fee Schedule - Order Form.
- Privileges: Upgraded members gain full voting rights and continue to register and transfer cattle at member rates.
6. Lifetime Membership
- Eligibility: Open to individuals 21 years or older, as well as farms, ranches, partnerships, syndicates, and corporations.
- Dues: A one-time fee set by the Registry, detailed on the membership form and Fee Schedule - Order Form.
- Privileges: Lifetime Members can register and transfer cattle at member rates and have full voting rights.
Membership Privileges
All membership types allow members to:
- Register and transfer cattle at member rates.
- Conduct other business with the International Beef Cattle Registry.
Only General Members are granted voting privileges on select issues, with each General Membership carrying one vote.
Memberships are non-transferable, except under specific conditions outlined in the Registry’s rules regarding the death of a member.
Membership Fees
- Fees for all membership classes are set by the Registry and may be adjusted periodically.
- While fees may vary by membership type, they remain uniform within each class.
- Members must pay fees within the specified timeframe and conditions set by the Registry.
Members in Good Standing
A member is considered in good standing if:
- All required fees are paid in accordance with Registry rules and regulations.
- The member is not currently under suspension.
Termination and Suspension of Membership
Membership may be terminated under the following conditions:
- Resignation: Voluntary resignation by the member.
- Expiration: Failure to renew membership on time.
- Non-Payment: If dues, fees, or assessments are not paid within 60 days of the due date, the member will not be considered in good standing and will lose member privileges.
