About Us

The International Beef Cattle Registry was founded after more than 12 years of research and collaboration with leading universities, companies, organizations, and breeders in the livestock industry. As the beef industry evolved, breed associations began allowing the registration of crossbred animals. However, many cattle still did not qualify for registration due to breed percentages, specific breed crosses, or close0d herdbooks. This gap in the market presented an opportunity to create a registry for animals that did not meet traditional registration criteria.

Our mission is to provide a reliable and inclusive registry that identifies, tracks, documents, and maintains the ancestry of past generations and future offspring—regardless of breed composition. Much like traditional purebred associations, we offer a formal registry system that supports breeders in establishing well-documented lineages, even for crossbreeding programs.

Meeting a Critical Industry Need

Feedback from breeders has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing relief at having a formal registry option for cattle that were previously unregistrable. One breeder shared:

"To be honest, I am pleased to see an international herdbook being established. It provides a way to document these cattle, which has not been available before. Whether you support composite breeding or not, it is a growing factor in the industry."

Another breeder highlighted the practical benefits of our registry:

"I think this is a wonderful resource. Commercial cattlemen should be utilizing this registry to manage their data. Having access to genetic evaluations and performance records is invaluable."

Real-World Impact

Our registry has already made a difference. For example, a breeder with a heifer that did not meet a breed association’s 25% minimum requirement (as she was only 12.5%) thought they would be unable to register her or participate in planned shows. After discovering our registry and completing the registration process, they could exhibit the heifer in more classes than expected—demonstrating our commitment to providing opportunities where none existed before.

Looking to the Future

Our impact has also attracted attention from government agencies. A State Department of Agriculture has reached out to explore how our registry services can support their programs. This is just the beginning of our broader vision: a comprehensive "conception to consumption" program that benefits all sectors of the beef production chain.

At the International Beef Cattle Registry, we are dedicated to enhancing the economic and genetic potential of beef cattle, offering innovative solutions for registration, genetic evaluations, and marketing opportunities. Whether you're a commercial cattleman or a progressive breeder, we're here to support your success with a forward-thinking, inclusive approach to cattle registration and performance management.
